Included within the continental category of Oceania are Australia, New Zealand, Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia. The development Christianity over this extensive geographical area of the world is interesting because at the end points of the time period of interest, we see (Table 2) that there is not much change. However, the steady increase in Christian presence following 1900 found its peak in about 1970 and the decrease has been steady and rather strong since. It would be of considerable interest to identify the factors behind such developments to learn if any distinct lessons might be apparent.
